Productive Day

I'm pretty sure Russell and I (wasted) spent almost an entire day watching this:

Travel channel had it on all day and we got sucked in. We both find this stuff fascinating- but at the same time it freaks us out. I kept hearing noises all night as a result of watching like 6 episodes of this. So what did we accomplish on a lazy Sunday- not laundry! but we are now considering career changes (ghost hunting anyone?)

Harder than it looks

My mother has this fabulous talent- she can crochet cute edges on blankets and she is super fast at it. Well I thought that maybe she could teach me how to do this so that I could make a few blankets for our little one and who knows- a friend or two. I mean- how hard can it be right?? So Carlye and I went with our mother to pick out some fabric and she gave us both a little lesson. There are two parts to it- the basic stitch around the edge, and then you go around again and add the fancy scallops. We started with the basic stitch and Carlye had hers done in record time. I on the other hand- well see for yourself :

I have yet to finish the basic stitch around the edge of a simple little burp cloth! It's not super hard it's just learning how to hold your fingers just right- and well it's much harder than I thought it would be! My patience has only allowed me to do about 10 minutes a night (if that) so who knows if this thing will ever get done. I am thinking that I may not add the fancy stitch on the edge of this- after all it took 2 months just to do the basic one! Maybe a blanket will be easier? :)

My mother in the meantime has made about 8 blankets, 2 of which are for our little one. They are so cute!

I may just have to have her make the rest of mine if my kid wants them before he is 2.

New Floor

Well we finally did it! After having the material for a LONG time we finally replaced the floor in our master bathroom. We did our guest bath awhile back but for some reason never got around to doing the master. The project took a little longer than we had hoped (due to Russell being on-call at work) but it's finally done and I absolutely LOVE it. It makes such a huge difference!

When we bought the house the master bath was decked out in forest green. We replaced the lovely forest green counter top about a year ago but the floor remained a little longer. Here is what it looked like:

We did a little better on this floor since we had already practiced on the guest bath and I have to say- we did a pretty dang good job. Here is the new floor:

Thanks to my awesome hubby for all his hard work! I must say- home renovations definitely test your patience :) But we made it through and still like each other- so all is well.

New Wall Color

After quite a bit of persuasion on my part- I finally talked Russell into letting me paint just one wall in the baby's room. :) I was super excited and could hardly wait to pick out the color and get the paint onto the wall and Russell was nice enough to go along with it. He was very adamant about me not painting- which was nice but at the same time- I love to paint! So I was sad I couldn't help but he did a great job and I love it!

I love the contrast of the dark against the lighter tan and the white furniture. I can't wait to get all the bedding on the crib to see the full affect!

In other baby news we got a fun surprise in the mail about a week ago from Russell's parents in Washington. His mom sent us 3 boxes full of baby clothes/blankets! She is having so much fun shopping for the little one and opening the boxes was like Christmas all over again! I'll have to post some pics of some of the cute things she purchased. It's so fun to get presents for the baby. He is definitely already spoiled!

We hope to tackle another home renovation project this weekend- so if all goes well I'll post pics when it's done!
